The European University of the Canary Islands is firmly committed to scientific and educational excellence and therefore promotes the organization of the congress “Tourism in Island in the XXI century: dynamics and Challenges”. This event aims to be a meeting place for all key players who are interested in tourism management of island destinations. In these destinations multiple and different social, economic, environmental and cultural factors come together to face great challenges. Tourists are changing and transforming leisure time by promoting the creation of new tourism products; they are also more aware of the necessary sustainability of our territories and of the importance of including local communities in tourism planning.

From the European University of the Canary Islands we want to encourage a space between professionals and friends to talk about it. Therefore, we welcome all participants to this congress and we thank you in advance for coming to the island of Tenerife to share your work.

We look forward to seeing you!

Scientific events as the “Tourism in Islands in the XXI Century: Dynamics and Challenges” Congress are, first and foremost, occasions of encounter between people who, thus, exchange experiences, share knowledge and enjoy themselves also in moments of healthy relaxation. This time it is the insular reality in everything that it has of singular and universal, namely for the tourist activity, that brings us closer. Precisely on an island and on an archipelago that, throughout its history, has constituted a cosmopolitan place of passage, of arrival and departure of real or imaginary expectations. This is how the islands represent, by their very nature, the essence of tourism as a project, journey and destination.

We will welcome all the participants with the enthusiasm that has driven us to take this initiative. From this point on, the success of it is certain because it only depends on the opportunity and rigor of the interventions, the heat of the debates and the joy of conviviality, which will surely happen.

Come, we are waiting for you … welcome!
